Decorize.com, the first source-to-user business in the premium home accents category announces
the launch of their source to small business (S2b) model. The launch features a new Decorize.com
web site, which gives small retailers access to sourcing products on-line from the Far East.
Beginning January 29, 2001, retailers can buy home accents at savings of up to 30% off normal
wholesale, with a 100% quality satisfaction guarantee from Decorize.com. In the same way that
Dell Computers radically changed the computer industry, the Decorize.com business model strips
away non-valued added costs and steps in order to offer exceptional value, timesaving delivery,
and an extensive selection to retailers. A series of logistics models show that when ordering
direct from the Far East deliveries can be made in anywhere from 7-days to the more conventional
90-days.
Decorize.com is implementing a "one price" approach. Product is priced to include freight
costs--a unique method in the home accents industry. Chief Operations Officer Dave Orwick
said, "We have spent a year building our patent pending logistics delivery system, negotiating
aggressive freight terms and including freight in the price of the merchandise which eliminates
any unpleasant surprises and offers exceptional value."
According to J. Martin, Sr. Vice President of Sales and Merchandising, the company will
continue to search the Far East for premium home accessories that offer a great value to
customers. The web site will also feature one-of-a-kind products ranging from antiques to
exclusive items available only to decorize.com customers. Martin anticipates 1,500 products
will be available on the site within the first six months with constant additions of new
merchandise.
Retailers will be able to buy product and re-order online, at markets and through
Decorize.com sales representatives. In 2001, Decorize.com will be showing at High Point, Dallas,
Chicago and Atlanta.
Decorize.com will support the source to small business launch with marketing including
spread and single page ads in Home Décor Buyer, Home Accents, and Accessory Merchandiser and by
direct mail.
Decorize.com was formed in March of 2000 and initially focused sales effort on the larger
retailer segment and currently does business with retailers such as Cargo Furniture, Walter E.
Smithe, and Dillard's.
